    BEIGHTON PARISH COUNCIL

    BEIGHTON AND MOULTON ST. MARY

The Parish Council meets in Beighton Village Hall on the second Tuesday in May, July, September, November, January and March, with additional meetings if necessary.  All agendas and minutes are put up on the boards in Moulton and Beighton and on the website. Just to remind you that all Residents are most welcome to attend and there is always an opportunity to raise any issues that cause concern. Such matters may be added to the meeting agenda for consideration by the Parish Council.

The number of Parish Councillors remains at a full complement of 7 in total. Contact details for all councillors are on the notice boards in both villages and on our website. Pauline James is the parish clerk and can be contacted at Beech Farm, Marsh Road, Upton, Norwich NR13 6BP.  Tel: 01493 – 751070 or [email protected].  Do please “subscribe” to our website at https://beightonpc.norfolkparishes.gov.uk/ where you can find out about Council matters and local events, or follow us on Facebook.

As always, our thanks go to Brian Iles (Norfolk County Council) and Grant Nurden (Broadland District Council) who regularly attend our Parish Council meetings and continue to keep us informed of any County and District matters that affect the residents of our villages.

I am very pleased to report that both of our villages now have Village Signs. On behalf of all residents the Parish Council would like to express sincere and grateful thanks to local resident Jamie Mack for the design and creation of these signs. Also, Herbie Smith, for his help in getting this project completed.

We have successfully recruited just enough volunteers to commence Community Speedwatch and I would like to thank all concerned for giving up their time to help try to reduce the menace of speeding motorists in our villages. The details of speeding vehicles are forwarded to Norfolk Police, which has meant that the Speed Enforcement Officer makes regular visits. We do need more volunteers to enable us to keep this project viable. If you would like to join the team, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

The Parish Council has acquired ownership of the telephone kiosk in Beighton and has turned it into a book swapping facility. It is available to anyone who fancies something to read or has books to donate.  We may find other uses for it as time goes on.

Just to remind you that the Parish Council pays a subscription to membership of Norfolk RCC’s Thinking Fuel oil buying scheme which can offer savings on the purchase of heating oil. Orders are taken on the first working day of every month. Everyone pays the same price per litre regardless of how much they order and there is no obligation to buy. This is available to all residents in our villages and further information is available on our website.

The Precept has been set for 2018/19 at £6,642 which works out at an average of £38.61 per home per annum. As you know, this is collected by Broadland District Council as part of the Council Tax.

The next Annual Meeting for the Parishes of Beighton and Moulton St Mary will be held in Beighton Village Hall on Tuesday, 8th May 2017 at 7.30 pm. This meeting is for all residents and we look forward to seeing you that evening.
